Signal isolators - signal conditioners

 

The Stroud Instruments range of process signal isolators / signal conditioners provide cost-effective isolated signal booster, signal converter or loop splitter functions. The input, outputs and power supply are electrically isolated from each other making these units ideal for solving signal incompatibility and earth loop problems during process control systems commissioning. The signal isolator can also provide scaling e.g. if the working range of a nominal 4-20mA signal is 6-12mA the output can be scaled to suit.

 

Typical signal isolator applications

  • The dual output isolator enables one measurement to be sent to two separate systems
  • Isolation and conversion of dangerous voltages to safe levels
  • Overcoming ground loop problems where a common mode voltage exists between the input and output
  • Solving current loop loading problems
  • Converting voltage signals to current or current signals to voltage
  • Scaling of process variables
  • Interfacing field sensors, transducers and transmitters with indicators, PLCs, and other process control instrumentation

Isolator selection guide

Select from: <Single channel isolators> <Dual channel isolators (signal splitters)>

PLEASE NOTE with most of our signal converters, other inputs and outputs
within the following ranges can be provided.

INPUTS: Current from 0-1mA to 0-30mA, Voltage from 0-1V to 0-250V
OUTPUTS: Currents from 0-1mA to 0-30mA, Voltage from 0-1V to 0-10V
Bidirectional voltage signals (e.g. ± 5 V) or reverse acting current and
voltage signals (e.g. 4-20mA to 20-4mA) signals are possible.
Current sink output is available on most types.
